A victim of the tragic Reno Air Race crash that left several dead and many more wounded spoke with local reporters this weekend and recalled the seconds before the plane went down and the resulting carnage (KRNV video above).

Ed Larson, a 59-year-old businessman, was a spectator at the air race and suffered multiple injuries in the crash, including a dislocated shoulder and a severed achilles.

“I’m really lucky to be here,” Larson told reporters at a press conference. “It just makes you feel lucky to be alive.”

Even though Larson sustained serious injuries in the crash that will require roughly two months of recovery time, he doesn’t believe that such air races should be banned.

“I think it’s a great community event,” Larson said. “I enjoyed it.”
