Cleveland Weathercaster A.J. Colby Joins WJW

Longtime Cleveland weathercaster A.J. Colby has joined Fox-affiliate WJW on a part-time basis.

The move is a return to WJW for Colby, who worked at the station for three years before joining WKYC, the NBC-affiliate, in 2005. In April, WKYC announced Colby would be let go, but he has remained at the station on a freelance basis since then.

Colby will handle the weekend and morning weathercasting on WJW. “Fox 8 viewers know A.J. and trust him, and it is great to have him back with us to make our outstanding weather team that much stronger,” WJW general manager Greg Easterly told the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

“It means the world to me,” Colby said of the move. “It’s part time to start with, but I hope it will be expanded in the future. There was just a lot more potential for growth at Channel 8.”
