Longtime Anchor Robin Mangarin Leaving KGET

By Andrew Gauthier

KGET anchor and executive producer Robin Mangarin, who has been a fixture at the Bakersfield NBC-affiliate for the past 15 years, is leaving TV to begin a career in community service.

“Leaving my KGET family was a very difficult decision but I do believe, from the bottom of my heart, that this is the right decision for me and my family,” Mangarin said.  “This move enables me to pursue a path I have thought about for a long time.”

For much of her 15 years with KGET, Mangarin has anchored the station’s evening newscasts alongside her husband Jim Scott. He will remain as anchor of the 5, 6, and 11 p.m. newscasts.

“Robin’s community service and commitment to a large number of local non-profit groups has been a huge part of KGET’s fiber over the past 15 years,” said KGET news director John Pilios.  “Her tireless work in that area is a very significant part of the station’s overall success.”
