KSMP reporter Courtney Godfrey, who lost her part of her leg in a boating accident last month, says God has big plans for her.
In an interview with Twin Cities Pioneer Press, she talked about the September 15 incident.
“I remember everything, even though it doesn’t really make a lot of sense because it was so disorienting. I was underwater and tumbling around. I felt my foot hit something. I remember I thought my foot hit the bottom of the lake, which doesn’t make any sense because it was too deep, but I was so disoriented. I thought maybe I had broken my foot,” she told the paper.
Godfrey, who worked at WDRB in Louisville, Kentucky before making her way to Minneapolis, told viewers on Facebook that she is adjusting to her new life as an amputee.
“A new chapter. That’s what I’m on. A new way of thinking, a new way of doing, a new way of feeling. On Sept. 15, I was doing what we do most weekends here in Minnesota–wakeboarding, skiing, floating, cruising. It was another perfect day on the lake, until the unthinkable happened. I’ve spent the last week in a hospital room, surrounded by family and friends, going through the ups and downs that come with losing a limb.”
She has documented her recovery on social media with various pictures and videos. In her latest video, titled ‘Ugly Cry’, she thanked her former station for sending get well notes from colleagues and former viewers.
Godfrey told the paper she plans to return to work as soon as she can.
