TBD Positions Cut as WJLA Assumes Control

By Andrew Gauthier

As WJLA takes over operations of TBD.com, almost all of the jobs at the news website are being eliminated.

According to the Washington Business Journal, the roughly two dozen current positions at TBD.com will be eliminated within the next four to six weeks and the company is accepting applications from staffers for eight available jobs.

“TBD will have its own staff, its own reporters and its own content, which will be very unique to that site,” Bill Lord, WJLA’s general manager and news director, said recently. “We want it to have its own identity.”

All that said, Lord also added: “We need to be more cost-conscious.”
