Tara Hitchcock Will Leave KTVK After 15 Years

By Merrill Knox

Tara Hitchcock, who has been at KTVK in Phoenix for 15 years, announced yesterday on Twitter that she is leaving the station, and her final broadcast is this morning.

Hitchcock told The Arizona Republic that she informed Nick Nicholson, the station’s president and general manager, of her decision on Tuesday morning. “I wanted to do the best thing for Nick and the best thing for the station,” she said. “They were incredible to me and, quite frankly, I’m getting the better end of the deal. They’re honoring my contract and Nick has been awesome through this whole thing.”

Hitchcock, who has anchored the KTVK morning show since 1997, said she has no immediate future plans, but intends to stay in the area. “This is not a sad thing,” she told the Republic. “To be given 15 years of having so much fun is a blessing, and I feel very fortunate.”
