Starting Fresh with WGNO, Susan Roesgen Reflects on Infamous CNN Report

By Andrew Gauthier

Susan Roesgen is looking for a fresh start in New Orleans, where she is now co-hosting WGNO‘s unconventional new show “News with a Twist.” Although she has moved on from CNN, where she worked as a correspondent for four years, she still can’t quite shake the memories of her now-infamous reporting from a Tea Party convention in Chicago (video above).

“Bad day and a tough crowd,” Roesgen told The Times-Picayune. “It is very difficult, sometimes, to get angry people to give a rational explanation for their anger. I might as well have been poking a stick in a hornet’s nest. It’s not something I’m eager to do again.”

“When you’re working at CNN, it was 24-7. I used to wake up at 4 in the morning and ask, ‘What city am I in?’ and ‘What’s the story?’ I’d get home and not know how to use my own shower. It was fun, because it was life on the road, but it was exhausting.”
