St. Louis Reporter Retiring After 45 Years in Broadcasting

By Kevin Eck

Betsey Bruce is retiring from St. Louis Fox affiliate KTVI.

The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports Bruce was the first woman to report news on a daily basis in the market and is the longest working TV journalist in St.Louis history.

Bruce, whose last day is December 16, started her broadcast career at KMOX (now KMOV) in St. Louis as a news writer. In 1971 “with partial thanks to the FCC, which at the time was encouraging stations to increase the number of women on newscasts” Bruce took a job as a reporter. She joined KTVI in 1989 as a weekend anchor and government consumer reporter.
