KSDK anchor Anne Allred is undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with a rare kidney disorder brought on by her pregnancy.
Allred has atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome. The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports doctors says the disease was caused by preeclampsia Allred suffered during her recent pregnancy.
“I am home now and undergoing infusion treatments,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “The hope is the infusions will restore my kidneys. All of you have been so encouraging and gracious to me through all of this. I can’t thank you enough.”
Allred’s daughter Nora was born three months premature in May.
“This has been some stressful year,” said Allred. “But we’re taking it day by day and getting through it.”
“She’s up to 5 pounds, 10 ounces, and we hope to have her home soon, at least by sometime in August,” Allred said. “We have to get her taking a bottle so she can get off the feeding tube.”
