Sports Anchor Keith Calkins Out at KRIV

Keith Calkins, sports anchor for Houston FOX owned station KRIV, has announced he will be leaving.

Calkins announced the news on his facebook page saying, “Suffice it to say…I feel blessed and fortunate for the opportunities and support for the last two decades at KRIV-TV. I want to thank the viewers for 20 years of great support. And now it’s on to the next great challenge.”

Calkins joined KRIV in 1993 after working for the Dallas Cowboys for a year. Before that he worked as a sports anchor for KFDM in Beaumont, TX, and as a reporter and anchor for KHOU in Houston.

Calkins’ departure comes on the heels of vice president and news director Tom Doerr’s move to the Chicago FOX owned station WFLD.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Calkins last day will be this Sunday, March 3.
