Someone Shot Santa During Christmas Eve Interview with WJLA

By Kevin Eck

A WJLA camera was rolling when a man dressed as Santa Claus was shot by a pellet gun just before giving away presents in a Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood on Christmas Eve.

“Oh man this is awesome,” said Xavier Hawkins while talking to Mike Rudd, cameraman for the Washington, D.C. ABC affiliate. “Oh yes, Merry…” said Hawkins, who was dressed as Santa as part of the annual toy giveaway, before looking around then doubling over in obvious pain and saying, “Someone just shot me.”

Hawkins was treated at a local hospital and released. He also took a minute to thank Rudd for taking care of his kids. Watch the video after the jump.
