Staffers working on the KPNX Sunday 10:00 p.m. news were forced to evacuate Phoenix’s Republic Media Building at around 6:30 p.m.
According to KPNX the Phoenix Fire Department responded to an emergency call triggered by smoke on the 4th floor of the building housing both the NBC affiliate and offices for the Arizona Republic newspaper.
KPNX said the Fire Department believed the smoke came from an air handler or a light ballast. Workers were allowed back in to the building by 7:45 p.m.
