Sharon Ito Leaving KXTV After 20 Years with Station

After 20 years working at KXTV in Sacramento, anchor-reporter Sharon Ito is stepping away from the news business to focus on raising the 11-year-old daughter she has with her husband, KXTV reporter George Warren.

Ito, who grew up in the Sacramento area, first started with KXTV in 1985 as a reporter and producer.  After leaving KXTV in 1990 for a job at KCAL in Los Angeles, she returned to the ABC-affiliate in 1996.

“It’s been wonderful being a part of the News10 family all these years,” Ito said in a statement.   “But of course, closest to my heart is raising our 11-year-old daughter here in Sacramento, the place I love.  It’s so true, there are stages in life and a break just feels right.”

From 2002 to 2007, Ito co-anchored KXTV’s morning newscast.  Since then, she has worked as a web producer, conducting live interviews on the KXTV’s website, and contributed to the station’s morning show.

“It’s really a bittersweet event for both of us,” Warren, who has been with KXTV since 1981, told TVSpy today via email.  “Sharon is really, really good at what she does and it’s the only thing she’s done professionally for the past 30 years.  On the other hand, she will be able to be a full-time mom during a critical stage in our daughter’s development and we’re really excited about that.”

Ito’s final day is scheduled for May 25th.
