Scott Clark Says Goodbye to WABC, and New York

By Chris Ariens

After nearly 25 years at WABC-TV in New York, sports anchor Scott Clark said goodbye at the end of last night’s 11pm newscast, “on his terms” added anchor Liz Cho.

“Although I’ll always be from the great state of Ohio, I’ve had the privilege over the years of becoming a true New Yorker, with your help. I’ve grown up here, I got sober here, I went through 9/11 here. I will never forget. But my family awaits. They’ve asked me for more time and I will give them that.”

On his blog yesterday, anchor Bill Ritter wrote about Clark’s departure as a rare anchor change at the station. “I feel like a relative newcomer, although I’ve been at ABC for 18 years and at this station for more than 12. Maybe it’s because I replaced someone (Bill Beutel) who worked here for 35 years. Our two newest weekday anchors – Liz Cho and Sade Baderinwa – are each now in their eighth year. Veterans, and well-known. In fact, most people here can easily say that they’ve been at this station longer than at any other job in their lives.”
