San Antonio Meteorologist Retires Without a Formal Goodbye

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

WOAI, the Sinclair owned NBC affiliate in San Antonio, said goodbye to its chief meteorologist Albert Flores.

He is leaving the weather business effective immediately according to My San Antonio.

“After over 40 years, I decided it was time to hang up the clicker. I have been working on some business options with friends,” he said.

In a text, Flores told the paper that he’s ready to live a more “normal life” after six years at the station and decades in broadcasting.

And while his exit seemed sudden to viewers – there was no on air goodbye – Flores insists he was not pushed out.

“I’ve heard the same stupid rumor,” Flores acknowledged. But he “did retire,” he wrote, “going on 64.”

Jeannette Calle, the regular morning and midday meteorologist, did the evening forecasts on WOAI Wednesday night. She will continue to fill in until a replacement is named.
