KTXL’s News at 5:30 p.m. will provide live, local news to the Northern California community, a welcome option for viewers who typically rely on the east coast-based national newscasts offered by the other stations. The half hour broadcast at 5:30 broadcast will be anchored by the 10 p.m. team, Donna Cordova and Jaime Garza, plus sports anchor Jim Crandell and meteorologist Kristina Werner.

On weekends, the 5:30 edition will be anchored by Teri Cox, Rick Boone, Mark Demsky, and Dennis Shanahan.

“It’s exciting to be adding news and personnel when other stations are cutting back,” said News Director Brandon Mercer. “We’ve hired some creative and aggressive people, and putting more cameras on the street than ever before.”
