RTDNA: ‘Everyone Had a Responsibility to Cover This Story’

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

Update: A spokesperson told TVSpy today, “Sinclair announced the agreement to purchase Bonton Media, which included KECI in April, but the acquisition has yet to be approved and Sinclair has no editorial control.”

KECI, the Sinclair-owned NBC affiliate in Montana, refused to cover initial reports that newly elected congressman, Greg Gianforte assaulted The Guardian Reporter, Ben Jacobs, according to a report in New York Magazine.

NY Magazine reports the station’s news director, Julie Weindel, would not collect footage for NBC News in New York and the network affiliates as the story was breaking.
