Returning to Her Roots, Lara Spencer Joins ‘GMA’

By Andrew Gauthier

Lara Spencer is returning to her roots. The former WABC reporter and one-time “Good Morning America” correspondent is joining “GMA” as a “lifestyle anchor.”

In an email to staff, ABC News president Ben Sherwood announced that Spencer was coming home.

“Lara will bring her well-known and much admired versatility and vitality to a broad range of ‘GMA’ stories,” he wrote. “Lara grew up at WABC-TV where she made her name covering features and hard news including the death of Princess Diana and the crash of TWA 800.”
