Reporter Facing Sexual Misconduct Charges Let Go From WCAX

Matt Henson, a reporter facing sexual misconduct charges stemming from an incident in March, has been let go by Burlington CBS affiliate WCAX.

“We decided to part ways. Matt was very understanding and took it very well. He took it like a pro,” news director Anson Tebbetts told the Burlington Free Press.

Henson has been suspended from the station since he was accused of groping a woman “under her clothing without her consent on two occasions.” He pleaded not guilty to charges of lewd and lascivious conduct and committing a prohibited act in April.

Tebbets said the station is launching early-morning weekend newscasts and needed to fill Henson’s position. “We couldn’t hold the position forever, and it wasn’t being resolved,” he said.
