By Aneya Fernando

monahannewReporter Brendan Monahan has announced that he’s leaving WGGB, the ABC and Fox affiliate in Springfield, Mass., after nearly six years at the station. Monahan is leaving not only WGGB, but TV news altogether, for his new role as the manager of public affairs at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

“It was too good of an opportunity to pass up and it seemed like the right time for me to make the move,” Monahan told MassLive.com. “I had the real urge to take on a new challenge and when this managerial role presented itself, I had to go for it.”

Monahan began his career at WGGB as an intern in 2008, before becoming an assignment editor and eventually, a general assignment reporter.
