grimm scotto confrontationRep. Michael Grimm (R-NY) has apologized to NY1 political reporter Michael Scotto for threatening to “throw [him] off this fucking balcony” after a post-State of the Union interview.

After issuing a statement about the incident that did not include an apology, Grimm called Scotto this morning and offered a “verbal apology,” NY1 reports. Scotto said Grimm apologized “a couple of times, and I accepted his apology.”

Grimm also issued a written statement: “I was wrong. I shouldn’t have allowed my emotions to get the better of me and lose my cool,” the statement reads. “I have apologized to Michael Scotto, which he graciously accepted, and will be scheduling a lunch soon. In the weeks and months ahead I’ll be working hard for my constituents on issues like flood insurance that is so desperately needed in my district post Sandy.”
