Regis Philbin (briefly) returned to morning television today as a guest co-host on “Good Day New York,” WNYW‘s morning show. Rosanna Scotto, who was a production assistant for Philbin in 1983, called it “a dream come true” to host the 9 a.m. hour with the television legend, who anchors a daily sports show on WNYW sister network Fox Sports 1.

“The skies may be cloudy but in my head it is so sunny,” Scotto said. “… I always dreamed I would anchor with [Regis] the 9 o’clock hour. Well lo and behold, here we are. It only took 30 years!”

> Update: The 9 a.m. hour of “Good Day New York” beat Philbin’s old show, “Live,” in both the A25-54 demographic and the A18-49 demographic.

Earlier this year, Scotto talked to MediabistroTV about her first big break in TV. Watch it after the jump.
