Duhamel Broadcasting Enterprises has sold its Rapid City, SD, ABC affiliate KOTA and its satellite stations to Schurz Communications Incorporated.

According to the station, Bill Duhamel, president and general manager of Duhamel Broadcasting, announced the move to employees Thursday. Duhamel also said in a statement, “The rapidly consolidating television industry makes it difficult for a single, stand-alone business to remain competitive and to develop the necessary capital to expand into the digital era.”

Marci Burdick, senior vice president of the Electronics Division for Schurz and former KOTA news anchor said, “Our goal for KOTA-TV is to expand content across traditional platforms (TV and radio) and in the area of new media for the benefit of listeners, viewers, and advertisers.”
