Portland’s WCSH Set to Produce WPXT Morning News

By Merrill Knox

Starting October 31, NBC-affiliate WCSH will produce an hourlong morning newscast on CW-affiliate WPXT in Portland, according to Broadcasting & Cable.

The two stations had a previous partnership in the market from 2003-2008. “We believe there is a significant number of people seeking a serious, local news program they can trust,” WPXT general manager Doug Finck told B&C. “It’s great to be back in business with WCSH. They’ve been the dominant news leaders in Maine for decades.”

The newscast, which will launch in standard definition but convert to high definition shortly thereafter, will air from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on weekdays. It will be anchored by WSCH anchors Lee Nelson and Sharon Rose, with weather reports from meteorologist Kevin Mannix.
