Pleading Guilty to Lewd Act, Veteran Meteorologist Joe Lizura Departs KUSI

Veteran meteorologist Joe Lizura, who recently went missing from his post at San Diego’s KUSI, has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of committing a lewd act in public.

Eyewitnesses told San Diego police last October that they saw Lizura fondling himself in the window of an office building.

Lizura has contended that he was merely adjusting the blinds but says that he elected to enter the guilty plea to avoid a drawn-out “he said-they said argument.”

Lizura entered the guilty plea on January 31st and has left independent station KUSI, although he is adamant that these two actions are unrelated.

Lizura issued this statement to San Diego ABC-affiliate KGTV:

This is an incident that’s over and it’s in the past from last October where someone said they saw something that I would never do, but I elected to plead to a misdemeanor and a $200 fine rather than get into a drawn out he said-they said argument. I’ve always maintained a stellar reputation in this town.

As for KUSI, I simply left to run my own company that makes television shows of which I’ve written more than 30 episodes, it’s always been my second love.

Here’s a video of Lizura on KUSI:
