Philadelphia Stations to Share News Content

Philadelphia’s ABC owned station WPVI and Univision station WUVP have announced they’re partnering on news content integration.

As part of the deal, WUVP will launch a live local 11:00p.m. news starting December 26. The two stations will also cross promote newscasts and share news content.

“This partnership will strengthen our news gathering capabilities within the Latino community,” said Bernie Prazenica, president and general manager at WPVI.  “Univision is the premiere Spanish language television brand in America, and we’re excited to share news resources with them.”

The Univision press release said the partnership is “an expansion of Univision’s ongoing efforts with ABC to share news content, already underway in two of the largest Hispanic markets such as New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. In some markets both stations work on investigative stories while in others they work on a daily basis on news stories and on gubernatorial debates.”
