Philadelphia Anchor’s Step Son Convicted of Fraud

Chaka “Chip” Fattah has been found guilty of 22 of 23 counts of fraud.

Fattah is the son of Philadelphia congressman Chaka Fattah, Sr.., who is married to WCAU anchor Renee Chenault-Fattah. Fattah, Sr. is under investigation for misuse of federal grants and charitable donations. Chenault-Fattah is on leave from WCAU after being mentioned in her husband’s indictment. She has not been charged.

Fattah, Jr. represented himself in his trial for mishandling loans and almost $1 million in education funds he received as a school management subcontractor.

Philly.com reports prosecutors portrayed Fattah, Jr. as “a con artist who cheated banks, his own clients, and taxpayers out of thousands of dollars so he could outfit himself in luxury and project the image of a successful businessman on the rise.”

“I’m not going to face any time in prison,” Fattah Jr. told WCAU’s Harry Hairston in an exclusive interview.
