Orlando NBC-affiliate WESH is now devoting its entire daytime schedule to the Casey Anthony trial.

Beginning today, WESH will run coverage of the trial from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, with a midday break for the station’s noon newscast, which will feature updates and analysis about the high-profile case.

“The interest continues to be overwhelming,” WESH general manager Jim Carter told the Orlando Sentinel. “We think the story is of such importance it demands something extra.”

Orlando viewers have shown an intense amount of interest in the case since it began on May 24th. Last Tuesday, local stations’ daytime coverage of the trial drew more viewers in the market than ABC’s primetime coverage of the Heat-Mavericks NBA Finals game.

While it covers the Anthony trial from 9 to 5, WESH is airing its regular daytime lineup on a digital subchannel.
