One Year After DUI Arrest, Former WLKY Anchor John Boel Joins Rival Station WAVE

John Boel, who was fired last year from WLKY in Louisville, is joining rival station WAVE, louisvilleky.com reports.

Boel was an anchor at CBS-affilate WLKY for 20 years until he was fired in November 2010 following a DUI arrest. He will join NBC-affiliate WAVE as a reporter with the potential for some anchoring duties on January 2.

WAVE general manager Ken Selvaggi told louisvilleky.com that Boel’s “best days are ahead.”

“He believes those issues are behind him and we hope that’s the case,” he said. “Obviously it’s a daily challenge but we’re optimistic he’s put it behind him.”
