Obama Sits Down with KMBC, KABC and WBNS

By Merrill Knox

President Obama sat down with three more local stations yesterday, making this the third week running that Obama has granted interviews on the local level. The White House is in a tense battle over the debt ceiling, which has a looming August 2 deadline, and Obama has used the interviews as part of a continued push to localize his message.

Obama was interviewed by Lara Moritz of KMBC (pictured), Dave Ono of KABC and Jerry Revish of WBNS. KABC is the ABC O&O in Los Angeles and KMBC is the ABC affiliate in Kansas City. WBNS is the CBS affiliate in Columbus.

This week’s interviews ran slightly longer than last week, with each station getting about nine minutes. They also took place in a different location — the White House Diplomatic Room. The last several rounds have taken place in the Map Room.
