Carol Ward has been upped to vice president and GM of NBC affiliate WAVY and Fox affiliate WVBT, two Nexstar-owned stations in Norfolk, VA.
Ward, currently director of sales for the stations, joined WAVY in 2012 from KIRO-TV where she spent four years was general sales manager.
“I have a deep appreciation for the rich history of the Hampton Roads region and am thankful for the opportunity to extend my record of service in Southeast Virginia and Northeast North Carolina with this promotion,” Ward said in a statement.
Before KIRO, Ward worked at WNCN in Raleigh-Durham, WFLA in Tampa/St. Pete, as well as WATL in Atlanta, and KMGH and KUSA in Denver.
“I have built many deep personal and professional relationships over the past five years and understand that a local economy influenced by a large seaport and strong military presence offers a unique set of opportunities and challenges for local residents and businesses.”
