Nexstar to Launch News in HD for Marquette Station

nexstar_304Nexstar has announced changes to its CBS affiliate in Marquette, MI.

WJMN will soon broadcast a 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. show Monday thru Friday in HD from a new building. The new shows will come under the direction of newly announced news director Cynthia Thompson.

Thompson comes to WJMN from WBUP-WBKP in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula where she was news director and station manager.

“Conversations with members of the local community continually revealed a need for quality local content and Nexstar’s investment in WJMN-TV’s news platform and technical infrastructure squarely addresses that need by delivering exceptional local news programming to viewers across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula where, when, and how they want it,” said Joseph Denk, VP and GM of Nexstar Broadcasting Group’s WFRV-WJMN television and digital operations.

“Conversations with local community members have revealed that Marquette needs a fresh local news alternative that provides viewers compelling local content and the stories that matter,” said Thompson. “Localism will be the top priority of the LOCAL 3 News operation, as our goal is to be to the most current, dynamic resource in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula for local news, weather and sports programming.”
