News Streaming App Watchup Partners with Tribune

Watchup-iPadWatchup, the news streaming app that delivers personalized newscasts, has announced a content partnership with Tribune Broadcasting. 

Watchup users will now have access to local news segments from 30 of the company’s stations across the country, including CW affiliates KTLA in Los Angeles, WGN in Chicago and WPIX in New York.

“The news most valued by viewers is local news. Watchup is creating a complementary service to traditional TV watching that supports the surging trends for digital and mobile media consumption,” said Watchup founder and CEO Adriano Farano. “I’m thrilled to bring our users the award-winning journalism from the websites of Tribune Broadcasting’s television stations across the country.”

Viewers will be able to stream content from Tribune stations in the following cities: Seattle, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Ft. Smith, Houston, Salt Lake City, San Diego, St. Louis, Sacramento, Kansas City, Greensboro, New Orleans, Huntsville, Des Moines, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Scranton, Denver, Harrisburg, Moline, Memphis, Hartford, Norfolk, Indianapolis, Richmond, Indianapolis and Grand Rapids.

Watchup uses GPS technology to stream local news segments to a user’s device. Users can also search and select local content, so they can catch their favorite hometown anchor wherever they are.
