News Director Out at Sacramento FOX Affiliate

By Kevin Eck

Brandon Mercer, news director for the Tribune owned Sacramento FOX affiliate KTXL, is no longer with the station.

Mercer wrote on his twitter feed, “Leaving one opportunity for another. Just need to figure out what it will be. I will always love @FOX40, the most amazing staff and GM.” He has also updated his facebook profile as “Former News Director at KTXL.”

Mercer started his career at KTTV in Los Angeles. He’s also worked at KOLD in Tucson, KPHO in Phoenix and former cable channel TechTV in San Francisco. He was an executive producer at KOVR in Sacramento before coming to KTXL.

One of the media blogs reporting Mercer’s resignation is The Desk, which edited by Matthew Keys. Keys is the former KTXL web producer who has plead not guilty to charges he helped the group Anonymous hack into the Tribune websites.
