Brennan Donnellan and his wife Jennifer launched AroundA nderson, a community news blog devoted to the Anderson township outside of Cincinnati, in October of 2008. Yesterday Donnellan announced that he would be committed much more time to AroundAnderson–effective this month, he will no longer serve as News Director for WLWT, NBC 5 in Cincinnati.
He posted the announcement, naturally, on AroundAnderson, saying, “The news business is facing a whirlwind of change. I believe opportunities are being created right now for new channels of community information like Around Anderson.”
In an interview with Cincinnati’s Business Courier, Donnellan described his departure from WLWT, currently the third highest-rated news station in the city, as a “mutual and amicable parting.” He went on to say that he doesn’t expect the blog to be his full time focus. It does seem, though, that the venture fully reflects his personal investment in his community.
Donnellan is raising his 6-year-old daughter, Emma Rose, in the town where he grew up and it’s clear that he and his wife see AroundAnderson as a way to further the Anderson community. “We love Anderson Township and Im excited for the future of Around Anderson,” he wrote in yesterday’s post. “Im so excited, in fact, that Im going to be devoting a lot more time to this site.”
