The first reports of a train barreling into the Hoboken Terminal came in just as the network morning shows were going off the air, around 8:57 a.m. During the final local news cut-ins, WNBC, WABC reported the breaking news. WPIX and WNYW reported the story a few minutes later. WCBS broke in to programming at 9:10 a.m. All local stations are continuing with rolling coverage.
The Hoboken Terminal sits on the edge of the Hudson River, where arriving trains, an underground commuter rail, buses and ferries converge to carry passengers to and from New York City. At least 3 people are confirmed dead and up to 100 injured as the collision occurred at the height of the morning rush.
