NECN is waking up the early-morning news competition with the first 4:30 a.m. newscast in the Boston TV market.
The regional cable news channel quietly launched “First Thing in the Morning” a few weeks ago and started promoting the new show earlier this week.

Anchored by Mike Nikitas and Karen Swensen, NECN is devoting two live trucks, two crews and two reporters doing live coverage to the new early-morning program.
