Nebraska Station Captures UFO On Live TV

By Kevin Eck

Lincoln, NE, ABC affiliate KLKN recently captured a UFO on its live Towercam during its 6:00 a.m. news.

Morning meteorologist Sean McMullen pointed out the green triangle shaped object in the shot, “Take a look at our Towercam. You decide for yourself,” said McMullen who initially thought it was just a star. “This is a very peculiar light off to the eastern horizon.”

“I have never seen anything like this before,” said McMullen in a story the station did on the 45 minute sighting. “I even say that several times while I’m on the air describing the object, because I want to let people know even I don’t know what this is.”

The station said a viewer captured similar footage of the object, ruling out those who thought it might have been a flare or lens aberration. University of Nebraska at Lincoln physics professor Timothy Gay told KLKN he can guarantee the non-existence of extra terrestrials and said he thinks the UFO was either government aircraft or an odd lens reflection. You can watch the story of the sighting after the jump.

KLKN also consulted UFO chasers Rich Webb and Scott Colborn who said a similar object was seen a couple of hours earlier in Lee’s Summit, MO. “I think it’s very interesting,” said Colborn. “I’m wondering if we can connect the two lines and maybe find out an approximate location of where this thing was.”

McMullen told TVSpy while he has his personal opinion about what it was, he prefers to keep it to himself.  He did add, “I can say that I would like to see a more serious tone in the media when it comes to things of this nature. Unidentified craft flying around in U.S. airspace certainly is an issue of national security and therefore should be taken seriously and transparently by both media and government officials.”

Lincoln is roughly 50 miles Southwest of Offutt Air Force Base, which is the headquarters for the USAF’s Strategic Command. On its website, Strategic Command outlines its mission by saying, “USSTRATCOM conducts global operations in coordination with other Combatant Commands, Services, and appropriate U.S. Government agencies to deter and detect strategic attacks against the U.S. and its allies, and is prepared to defend the nation as directed.” In the Cold War days that meant heading up the nation’s fleet of bombers and nuclear missiles. But it now it says it is tasked to, “Deter nuclear attack with a safe, secure, effective nuclear deterrent force. Partner with the other combatant commands to win today. Respond to the new challenges in space. Build cyberspace capability and capacity. [And] Prepare for uncertainty.”

Offutt is also home to the 55th Air Wing which says on its website it, “Provides dominant intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, electronic attack, command and control and precision awareness to national leadership and warfighters across the spectrum of conflict any time, any place.”
