NBCUniversal Foundation Partners With NBC O&Os For Nonprofit Initiative

The NBCUniversal Foundation will partner with the NBC O&Os to launch an initiative that will provide $1.2 million in grants to nonprofit organizations, NBC announced today. The program, 21st Century Solutions, will enable nonprofits to compete for funding in the ten cities where NBC owns local stations.

The initiative will support “high-impact, innovative programs” in areas including arts and media, civic engagement and community development. The funding will come from the NBCU foundation, while the 10 O&Os will spotlight the programs on.

“This is a great opportunity for us to work with local organizations that are doing innovative work,” Valari Staab, president of the NBC O&Os, said in a statement. “Our local stations are thrilled to be able to support initiatives that will make a real difference in their communities.”
