NBC Washington anchor says he has been off-air because he’s “receiving cancer treatment”.
Jim Vance made the announcement last night at the end of the 6:30 newscast.
“I’ve had to take some time off and it’s not of my own choosing. A couple weeks ago doctors gave me some news and it’s the kind of news nobody ever wants to hear. He said I have cancer and he’d treat me,” Vance told viewers.

“So I’ve been getting that treatment and coming into work with my partners here whenever I can,” he continued.
Vance says he “doing ok”.
The 75 year old has been with the NBC-affiliate for 40 years.
