NBC Stations Integrate iPhone Photo App Into Production Systems

By Andrew Gauthier

After months of testing, NBC today announced that its stations will begin using the iPhone app Instagram to help viewers easily share their photos.

Most of the NBC-owned stations have now integrated the Instagram app into their production systems and several stations are kicking off the Instagram effort by inviting viewers to share photos of holiday lights using the app.

“Our viewers send us great photos, particularly during breaking news, special events and severe weather,” said Greg Scholl, president of local integrated media at NBC Owned Television Stations. “Instagram is easy to use, widespread and makes photos look good. We can now bring these fantastic images into our local news broadcasts and easily share our viewers’ photos widely.”
