The NBC O&Os have announced comprehensive coverage plans for the 2012 London Olympics, which begin on NBC July 27.

All 10 stations will send journalists to London for coverage, totaling 25 reporters, editors, producers and photographers. They will focus on local athletes and the stories important to viewers in each respective market.

“There are so many compelling stories that come out of the Olympics, and our on-air, on-line, mobile and social platforms will focus on them in addition to the latest news and sports updates,” Valari Staab, president of the NBC O&Os, said in a statement.

Additionally, 75 percent of the NBC O&Os and affiliates will air a daily half-hour show called “The Olympic Zone.” Elements of the show will be fed out daily from London and anchored by on-air talent from each NBC station.

The NBC O&Os will also devote special sections of each station’s website and mobile apps to the Olympics.
