After lackluster ratings and ongoing controversy, NBC has pulled the plug on “The Playboy Club” just three episodes into the season.
The show has faced an uphill battle to success since June, when Salt Lake City NBC-affiliate KSL said they would not air “The Playboy Club” due to the show’s racy content. Advocacy groups such as Parents Television Council were quick to capitalize on KSL’s decision, pleading with NBC affiliates nationwide to follow suit.
In its second episode, “The Playboy Club” ratings fell by 19 percent, according to The Hollywood Reporter. NBC will replace the show next month with “Rock Center with Brian Williams,” a newsmagazine slated to debut on October 31.
