WFLD morning anchor Kori Chambers is leaving the Chicago Fox O&O, Chicago media reporter Robert Feder confirms. According to TunedIn’s Jerry Barmash, Chambers is expected to be named morning co-anchor at WPIX, Tribune Broadcasting’s CW affiliate in New York City.

Before joining WFLD in 2008, Chambers worked as an anchor and reporter at WDIV, the NBC affiliate in Detroit. According to his WFLD bio, he has also worked at stations in Las Vegas and Sprinfield, Mass.

Chambers is expected to co-anchor the WPIX morning newscast alongside Sukanya Krishnan after she returns from maternity leave next month, Barmash reports. A WFLD station source says Chambers wanted to return to his native New York.
