Mike Marusarz changes channels, cities, and his name

By Chris Ariens

Mike Marusarz, most recently doing freelance reporting and anchoring for ABC News in New York, is joining Sunbeam’s WSVN 7 News in South Florida.

He’ll be changing his on-air name in the process to Mike Marza. Beginning next month, Marza will co-anchor, with Lynn Martinez (Olson) the 4, 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30 evening newscasts. He’ll also report, and fill-in for Craig Stevens, on the 10pm news.

Marusarz has been in New York since leaving KSHB in his native Kansas City in January 2010. Marusarz’s wife, Rhiannon Ally, who also worked in Kansas City at KCTV, moved to New York to co-host Meredith Corp.’s “Better TV.” But it looks like she is South Florida-bound too.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining WSVN and the Sunbeam Television family,” said Marusarz in a press release. “My wife and I are ecstatic to settle into South Florida and make Miami our home.”

Marusarz replaces Charles Billi who left WSVN in February after 12 years with the station.
