In a story similar to one we just reported, WSVN anchor Ashley Jones, once known as Ashley Morrison, told TVSpy someone was using her picture to friend people on Facebook.
This morning WFAA anchor Ron Corning told viewers that a man used his picture in a fake Facebook profile in a failed attempt to scam a Kansas woman.
Jones said someone using her headshot and the name Sarah Roland tried to friend a man who recognized the woman’s picture as the anchor for the Miami Fox affiliate.
The man told both Jones and Facebook.
Facebook killed the page.
Jones, who remarried last month, says this just happened a couple of weeks ago and is “not sure how long this person was using my picture as their Facebook page but people need to be careful and they definitely need to report it to Facebook.”
KAKE anchor Annette Lawless reminded us on our tip line the easiest way to check if it’s happened to you is to do a reverse image search on Google.
On any website, right-click an image and select Copy image URL. Visit images.google.com or click the camera icon in the search box on any Images results page . Paste the URL you copied into the box.
You can also right click a picture and select “Search Google for Image.”
