Meteorologist Sagay Galindo Bids Farewell to WAVY

Meteorologist Sagay Galindo is leaving WAVY to follow her husband, who is in the Navy, to the west coast.

Galindo, who grew up in the Hampton Roads area, joined WAVY in 2010.  She announced her departure during the NBC-affiliate’s morning newscast on Sunday (video above).

“I would like to thank all of you who allowed me to come into your homes weekend after weekend, pregnant, normal build, tired, energetic,” Galindo wrote in a WAVY blog post over the weekend.  “It has long been a dream of mine to broadcast weather in my hometown and I am so blessed to say that I was able to do so.”

Before joining WAVY, Galindo spent five years at WWBT in Richmond.

WAVY meteorologist Jeremy Wheeler wrote in a blog post Monday morning that the station plans to introduce Galindo’s replacement shortly and will also add a fourth person to the weather team in the near future.
