Indianapolis CBS affiliate WISH has announced Robb Ellis will join the station as its evening meteorologist.

“Robb brings a wealth of meteorological experience, especially in severe weather coverage. He has passion for the science and understanding of the changing dynamics of weather that is Central Indiana,” said news director Steve Bray. “Robb has experience both as a researcher and scientist in climatology and as an on-air meteorologist. This background not only ensures Hoosiers an accurate forecast, but a dedication to their safety in times of severe weather.”

Ellis, who comes to WISH from WECT-WSFX in Wilmington, NC, will serve as meteorologist for the station’s 5:00, 6:00, 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. newscasts.

“The reputation of Hoosier hospitality and being a great place to live precede Central Indiana as does the reputation for its ever-changing weather. I can’t wait to tackle the daily challenge of forecasting in such a diverse climate,” said Ellis. “I look forward to bringing my love of forecasting and my experience in severe weather coverage to WISH-TV. I’m also excited to explore my new home and establish great roots here.”

On his facebook page, Ellis said goodbye to his viewers in Wilmington saying, “I’ve accepted a new job in Indianapolis and I’m excited for a new adventure. It’s been an amazing 4 years here in Wilmington, and it is truly the best job I’ve ever worked. This beautiful area is the only other place I’ve lived that felt like home. My coworkers and the people that I’ve had the priviledge to meet in the community have taught me so much. And I’ll miss you all.”

Ellis has also worked at WFMY in Greensboro, NC.
