Meteorologist Paul Ossmann Joins WGCL, His Third Atlanta Station

By Andrew Gauthier

Meteorologist Paul Ossmann, a 24-year veteran of the Atlanta market, has joined CBS-affiliate WGCL.

Ossmann was chief meteorologist at WXIA, where he worked for over a decade, when the NBC-affiliate decided to let his contract expire last year.  Before WXIA, Ossmann worked at Atlanta’s Fox station, WAGA.

“We’re happy to add Paul’s experience and expertise to an already strong team of meteorologists,” WGCL news director Eric Ludgood said, in announcing the hiring.  “This further cements our commitment to providing the most comprehensive television weather coverage in Georgia.”

Ossmann will serve as a weekend meteorologist for WGCL, appearing on the station’s 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts Saturdays and Sundays.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Ossmann reached out to WGCL last year after WXIA informed him that his contract would not be renewed.  Ludgood called him up a few weeks ago to discuss joining the WGCL weather team.
