Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini Joins WHIO

Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini is joining WHIO, the CBS affiliate in Dayton.

Zontini comes from Youngstown, where she worked at WKBN-WYTV-WYFX. At WHIO, she will be the meteorologist on the weekend morning and noon newscasts.

“We are excited to have Kirstie as an addition to our Storm Center 7 team,” chief meteorologist Jamie Simpson said in a statement. “Kirstie was born, raised, and educated in Ohio, so she is very knowledgeable of our weather patterns. Her experience forecasting lake effect snow in Youngstown will very valuable to WHIO viewers and listeners.”

DAYTON, OH. – November 25, 2013 – WHIO TV and Radio has named Kirstie Zontini as Meteorologist for Channel 7 and 7 Weather Now, along with 95.7 FM and AM 1290 News Talk Radio WHIO. Zontini will be responsible for forecasting on weekend mornings on News Center 7 Daybreak and Noon newscasts, as well as share other responsibilities throughout the week for WHIO-TV and Radio and Cox Media Group Ohio.

“The Storm Center 7 team has an outstanding reputation of providing the most up-to-date weather information that keeps the community safe,” said Zontini. “I’m thrilled to be forecasting alongside such a talented group of meteorologists.”

Zontini joins the stations from WKBN/WYTV/WYFX in Youngstown, Ohio. She is a graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University. While at Ohio U., she was a weather anchor and producer at WOUB-TV, and interned in the weather and news departments at WEWS-TV and WJW-TV in Cleveland.

Zontini is an Ohio native, and grew up in Eastlake, Ohio.
